My husband and I stayed here when my daughter got married at Carrigan Farm. This place was a hop skip and a jump from the wedding venue so this was more suitable than staying at one of the chain hotels that would not be nearly as convenient. The innkeepers were super friendly and were very flexible and accommodating for our check in. What was super memorable is my husband forgetting his cuff links. A formal French cuff shirt with paper clips as cuff links just won’t do for our daughter’s wedding in less than an hour. Well, the sweet innkeeper dug up some of his cufflinks to lend my husband. That certainly surpassed our wildest expectations but boy he saved the day! The next morning we had a delightful breakfast sitting at the bar of the beautiful chef’s kitchen, decompressing after our wonderful wedding. We enjoyed conversation about the history of the house and their personal journey of how they ended up in Mooresville. This is a neat little getaway if you find yourself in Mooresville. And if you’re attending an event at Carrigan Farm, it’s the perfect choice!

My husband and I had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Silly Chicken Lodge in mid May, 2019. We were in town to attend my nieces wedding. The Lodge was booked but we had the good fortune to be the "inaugural" couple in their newest addition - the "NEST". The "NEST" is a quaint cottage with kitchen, sitting/sleeping area and bathroom. Breakfast was not included but for a small up-charge we were given the option to eat at the Lodge. Eggs served at breakfast "our graciously provided by the girls in the coup". Thank you Karen and John for making us feel at home!

The owners, John and Karen, make you feel right at home. We stayed in a small suite on the ground floor. There are 2 single rooms with a shared bath on the second floor. The owners, John and Karen, make you feel right at home. We stayed in a small suite on the ground floor. There are 2 single rooms with a shared bath on the second floor. Our rooms were a bedroom with bed, love seat, chair, bureau and roll top desk. The bathroom is small but adequate with a modern tub/shower. There is also a "kitchen" with Keurig, frig, microwave, sink, etc. John asked me, and when we returned later in the evening, he had gotten me half and half and a different coffee. All was clean and comfortable. Just outside the suite is a 'public" living room with large screen TV. There is a formal dining room but breakfasts are in the "to-die-for" kitchen. It is worth a stay just to see this kitchen that John and Karen put to good use. When we arrived they gave us menus listing the choices for breakfast to mark the night before. Choices included French toast on Italian bread, blueberry pancakes, toast, bacon or corned beef hash, hash browns, and, of course, eggs from their own chickens. The motif is everything chicken. I wish that I was able to include pictures that would allow me to show the charm if the place. They have a number of kinds of chickens that they free range. Our daughter, who also raises chickens, was very impressed with the fancy chicken coop John had built. He is presently enlarging the deck in the back where the hot tub is located. All and all, it was a pleasant stay with friendly people that respected our privacy.
