Excelent location, good Atmosphere, friendly Staff, excelent room condition. All in all a very comfortable and wonderful stay. Especially reception Staff was very accomodating and helpful - Abdullah, Thanks.

Pros: very clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, well equipped rooms, modern, attractive. Cons: bar costs were average but a SINGLE SHOT of BAILY'S costs £10 (shock horror.) Being part of a bus tour meant we didn't get the general hotel food, but rather tasteless vile looking cheap slop pretendi… Più

Pros: very clean, comfortable, pleasant staff, well equipped rooms, modern, attractive. Cons: bar costs were average but a SINGLE SHOT of BAILY'S costs £10 (shock horror.) Being part of a bus tour meant we didn't get the general hotel food, but rather tasteless vile looking cheap slop pretending to be chilli. 3 courses of cheap rubbish we couldn't eat. NEVER experienced food as bad on any of our other bus tours hotels. Very disappointing and ruined out lovely trip.

I was visiting family in Sunderland and selected the Holiday Inn due to its location. The staff were great and offer fantastic customer service. However, poor maintenance of the hotel really let this place down. First room had an accessible bathroom with a completely flat floor, ie no shower cubicle, so water went everywhere and went out the door, wetting the carpet. I was moved into another room where things were good for a few days. Upon returning to the room ne evening, the toilet was continually running water and the flush mechanism had broken. It would seem that housekeeping had cleaned the bathroom and left the toilet like this. I was then moved to a third room, where the curtain rail detached from the ceiling and had to be reinstalled. Again, the staff were really responsive to these issues and were apologetic. Finally, one little quirk is the in-room air conditioning. This id limited to only 2-hours at a time. This is inconvenient when the room warms up overnight (yes, this happens in Sunderland!). I mentioned on checkout and was told this is intentional as it’s a green hotel. As a member of IHG rewards, this is the worst hotel I’ve stayed at from a facilities perspective, and will give it a miss next time I return to Sunderland. In short great staff, but perhaps get some preventative maintenance done soon
