Had a lovely time here. Really nice lunch from their 2 courses for £23 menu. Not many options , only 2 starters to choose from and not many mains. Had the fishcake which comes with an egg and nothing else so need to order a side at £5 something. Food was nice and hot altho did find a bone in my fishcake so need to be careful. That aside it’s a nice venue and staff are welcoming and friendly.

Unfortunately let down by noisy room high up on second floor. I booked the basement room as had lots of bags but was put in the second floor. This was very noisy and hardly slept. Unfortunately let down by noisy room high up on second floor. I booked the basement room as had lots of bags but was put in the second floor. This was very noisy and hardly slept. Even at 3am noise on landings. But as follows is balanced review: Restaurant 5/5 - flawless. Exceptional food and ignore poor reviews. Calamari followed by pie - outstanding and decent Chardonnay and Malbec. Would t hesitate to eat here. Service was also exceptional. Bar 4.5/5 - great place to relax - service flawless Outdoor 5/5 - stunning and great in the sun. Pods fun and kids play area on grounds and big park behind Rooms & hotel stay 2/5 - probably just my unlucky stay - and specific room - but definitely feels more like a decent B&B than hotel. It’s really a restaurant with rooms not a hotel and this shows. There are no facilities to mention. The rooms are also tired but tbf spacious. Don’t book 209 as high up and noisy and cupboard in front of another sealed room that has its light on all night lighting up the room below the door?! I mean why? Didn’t sleep more than two hours. But clean. Breakfast 4/5 - not had on this occasion but have previously and really good with great service. Overall I would not stay again but will always visit for drinks and food. If they improved rooms and put in a gym then for sure but better options locally that are hotels with the facilities. I think having been here more than 30 times for drinks / food I would say it’s consistently excellent but I do think the poor food reviews come down to bad luck or maybe when very busy. I’ve been for 5 roasts for example and 2 decent, 1 exceptional and 2 poor so I’d pick when to come / time. Like all places it’s always best when it’s not at capacity.

We stayed here for one night when visiting a friend nearby. From the moment we walked in the staff were very friendly. It was warm and cozy on a chilly day. We stayed here for one night when visiting a friend nearby. From the moment we walked in the staff were very friendly. It was warm and cozy on a chilly day. Our room overlooked the front and had a lovely view of the garden. Room clean and comfy. Had everything we needed. We did not have dinner but had breakfast which was really good and plenty of it. Would highly reccomend a stay here!
