We would like to enthusiastically commend the Smile Hotel Premium Kanazawa's front desk team for truly outstanding service even before we arrived! We ran into a flight cancellation by ANA, and were delayed one day in arriving. I called the hotel a few times to update the travel plan, and each time spoke with a manager with excellent English and cordial and supportive manners. Ms Fujita-san very capably and generously coordinated with us and the third-party booking agent (Agoda) to ensure that our reservation was amended accordingly, and Mr Inomata-san graciously registered our very late arrival on the day. The front desk greeted us, tired travellers, with utmost helpfulness and assigned us a spacious room! What a wonderful way to start our visit of Japan!

The best thing about this hotel is its location, which is just near the station so you can go anywhere near Kanazawa easily. There are also many restaurants and stores near it, which will be very convenient. The room itself is reasonable, just like other business hotels near the station. However, personally, I don't like the breakfast here. They are not buffet but just a regular Japanese breakfast set, and they are out very fast. If you are someone who wants to finish breakfast as fast as you can, then this is the hotel for you. However, for me, who wants to try breakfast in my own phase, I will not prefer it. Overall, I will give it 4.5/5 if possible.

Hotel very easy to find. Come out of the East exit where the Tsuzuni-mon Gate is. If you stand at the Railway Transport Information Booth and look up to your left you can see the hotel. We received a very warm welcome and were able to leave our luggage until the 2 p.m. check in. Our room was small but we had room to move around and just left our cases zipped up. The bed was comfortable and water was hot. We had a desk and two chairs. WiFi was a bit sketchy. One of us could connect but the other couldn’t. Amenities are downstairs in the foyer along with a free coffee/drink machine. Absolutely perfect position for the station. We had to catch a train for the Kurobe Gorge the next day. Bus station is right there too and we took the Kanazawa Loop bus a couple of times. If you want to heat your own food there is a microwave on the second floor along with a cold drink vending machine and also an ice machine. We stayed 2 nights and left our luggage again on checkout until we needed to catch our train. Would definitely stay here again.

There are 2 Smile Hotels in Kanazawa. One is very close to the train station and a rocks throw from the mall. Ours was the other, which is about 1/4 mile away. Once we found it, it was easy to get to and from the train station. As for the hotel, well we have stayed in better accommodations for the same price. At check in we were given only 2 room keys regardless of how many guest were in the room. One was for the room to keep the lights and AC going. That left us with one key between 3 people. Might be petty, but it was a pain in the butt cooling down the room all the time. The room was lacking and not very spacious. This was our 5th hotel. There was a refrigerator and hot water kettle, but beware NO COFFEE. Thankfully I had several instant coffee packs saved from other hotels and was able to get my caffeine fix. Bathroom was tiny and if you were not careful you could trip over the entrance. It did serve breakfast which was okay for what was served. End of the day if all you want is a room to sleep, it's okay, but we would have been willing to spend $75 + extra for better accommodations.
