We’ve been fortunate enough to travel all over the world, but Elysian Retreat is one of those rare places that genuinely takes your breath away. If you want to switch off from everything and simply enjoy time together with your partner, this is as close to paradise as we’ve ever found. The beauty of the island is extraordinary the crystal water, the colours, the calmness, the wildlife, and the feeling of complete seclusion. It’s a place where you can sit in silence and just take in the world around you. What really stands out is how much care and thought has clearly gone into creating this retreat. Nothing feels overdone; instead, it feels lovingly shaped to let the island speak for itself. The setting, the design and the atmosphere all blend seamlessly into the landscape, and you can feel the effort behind making it such a peaceful haven. The service is warm, attentive and genuinely personal. The team really do want to make your stay perfect. One tip I’d offer future guests is to share as much as you can about your food preferences. The chefs are extremely talented and the food is full of flavour and creativity. The more information you give them, the better they can tailor the experience for you. Another highlight is the helicopter arrival absolutely worth it. Seeing the Whitsundays from above and watching this secluded little sanctuary appear beneath you is an unforgettable moment that sets the tone for the entire stay. Elysian Retreat allowed us to fully unwind, reconnect and truly enjoy life for a few days. It’s a special place, crafted with care and surrounded by natural beauty that feels almost unreal at times. A place we won’t forget and one we’ll definitely return to.

The staff make the experience luxury, you will easily find resorts with fancier facilities, but you’ll be hard pressed to find a resort with staff who are so excellent, they are more like friends, or resort guides than staff, from the boat skipper to the barista, they are all wonderful. If you get a light-wind day, don’t miss the opportunity to go on the Whitehaven boat trip, we had only 2 couples (which does put the price up a tad) so it was more like a bespoke beach and snorkelling tour of the Whitsundays , thanks Nathan and Ben, you guys are great skippers !!

“Fabulous”

Incredible place. The food was outstanding. They’ve really found some super talented chefs and we ate like kings. The resort is relaxed, comfortable and nothing is too much trouble. We loved our stay. Thanks to the whole team.

We found a way to hit the pause button in paradise. Our stay at the Elysian was so much more than we imagined: we arrived in a cool amphibious boat (the other alternative is a chopper: there are no bad ways to get here) , the rooms overlook the beautiful bay, saw some whales go by from our room , spent the days sipping wine and just living the slow life (painting and bird watching). At night we did some star gazing (the milky way clearly visible) . The food was incredible, the staff is the cherry on the cake.
